Hey everyone, out of these two, which would be the best choice all around? Programs offered, community, class size, residences and residence life, entertainment, international recognition, how easy it is to get immersed, how nice/good the profs are, the “success rate” for students, etc!!

I am a US citizen about to start a master’s program and want to live in BC afterward. I heard there is no official license in BC..is it hard to get paid?

Way before you need to think about what you will be paid in Canada…………….You need to APPLY for Canadian Immigration approval to come to live and work IN Canada.

You can’t ” just decide to move to Canada ” You have to qualify, and be approved, THEN you can come and look for work. That application process will take about 2 years to be completed, so don’t pack your bags just yet .

I know that isn’t what you thought the process was…….But it’s the truth.

It takes 5 hrs 58 min to fly nonstop from Vancouver, BC to Chicago, IL. . . . . How can that be?

WRONG! Chicago is CST, Vancouver is PST. There is a 2 hr difference in time zones.

Can you figure out the correct times? Hint…It usually takes westbound flights a little longer because of prevailing headwinds.

I’ve lived in B.C. my whole life. Ive gotten an education, and experimented with multiple career options. If youre young, or new to a career, B.C isnt generally a good place to start. A lot of people want to live here, so the job market is competative, and youre going to be competing with people who got experience elsewhere. I’ve yet to find a career that pays more in B.C. than it does elsewhere in Canada. The worst for this problem is Vancouver Island. You’ll find better wages in the interior of BC, especially northern BC. There are also more opportunities for entry-level in the interior/north.

Victoria (city) is on Vancouver Island. Vancouver (the city) is on the mainland (I know, it doesnt make sense, lol).

Victoria is a tourist town, with a large number of the upper-class and wealthy. Its a beautiful city, but it has very little to offer in the way of job opportunities.

Vancouver is much bigger than Victoria. Its less pretty, and rather than rich people it has a large oriental community and gangs. Vancouver is where ALL the jobs are.

I strongly suggest vancouver.

Really big time.
Large ancient boreal forests exist(ed) in British Columbia.
Plywood and other timber products have gone into the construction of many homes throughout North America. Despite a ‘free-trade’ agreement with the United States that nation routinely breaks the agreement by placing punitive duties, tariffs and limits on Canadian timber, thus raising the ire of Canadians and the prices of new homes in the United States.
Vancouver is a major trade centre in the Province.

Does British Columbia help to make Canada the worlds largest producer of newsprint? Certainly, it does. There are lots of paper mills in BC.
